nui is licensed under the terms of the GPL.
This means you are free to use nui in any free software, as long as its license is compatible with the GPL.
It also means you can't freely use any code from nui if you're not ready to disclose your application's source code.
You can support NUI developers by making a donation to the team. A donation will show your appreciation for our tireless work on nui and on the website, as well as help cover for the site's hosting costs. It doesn't however, grant you anything more than our sincere thanks and smiles...

If you want to use nui in a closed source application, you can buy a commercial license from us under the following terms:
Buying a license entitles you to use the current source code for an unlimited time, as well as one year of free updates.
example: You buy a licence and download the code on march 2009. You can use this code with no limit in time. You can update the code until march 2010. If you want to use the code from a later release, you'll have to update your licence.
